Additional Safety Requirements
Inland waters : Non tidal rivers, lakes, dams and billabongs
1 Level 50 PFD (Type 2) or higher per person

Intermediate waters : Tidal rivers, sheltered waters and all other coastal waters up to 2NM from the coastline
1 Level 100 PFD (Type 1) or higher per person
Two 9L buckets with lanyards for vessels over to meters
Portable fire extinguisher : one for vessels 5-10m, two for vessels > 10m

Open waters : all waters beyond 2NM from the coastline
1 Level 100 PFD (Type 1) or higher per person
Two 9L buckets with lanyards for vessels over to meters
Portable fire extinguisher : one for vessels 5-10m, two for vessels > 10m
One registered EPIRB

Registration
All EPIRBs must now be registered by with AMSA in Canberra
Austraial Boat Builders Plates must be fixed to all new recreational vessels

Expiry Dates : must be adhered to for the following equipment
Red hand held flares   -   orange smoke signals
EPIRBs   -   fire extinguishers - gas cannister of PFD
