Standing at the end of Kalgoorlie's main street, Paddy offers a cool drink of water from his bag to any thursty pedestrian passing by. My daughter Babette thinks that is great.

The local beer, Hannans Lager, was named after this famous explorer, so was the illustrous Hannans Club of which I became a member.

One of my friends was the Mananger of the Hannans brewery, so I found quite regularly on many Friday afternoons and free carton of Hannans Lager standing on my doorstep.
