De Weerribben, North of Giethoorn, Overijssel was voted in 2007 "Het mooiste plekje in Nederland" (the most beautiful spot in the Netherlands). It is an old peat digging area, now consisting of two sets of narrow channels at right angles to each other. It is indeed a wonderful and tranquil area. We hired a "fluisterboot" (whisper boat) with silent electric motor, and cruised around all day.
