And NOT so picturesque Harderwijk. But I do love the Hollandse Nieuwe (fresh new herrings). Judith caught me out here on camera while eating one the way every Dutchman does eat this delicacy. But the very best one I had this year was at a stall on the "Buitenhof", the square just outside the Dutch Parlement ("Binnenhof") in Den Haag. Fresh from Scheveningen harbour only a few kilometers away, Can't beat that.
What you do get better than anywhere else in Harderwijk is smoked eal, and we had a good helping of that too here.
