My grandparents used to live in Rotterdam (Essenlaan), but retired in Scheveningen. When perusing the city map of Den Haag and Scheveningen a naam suddenly jolted my meory. The Mechels straat, that is where they lived. My grandfather died in 1936 (before my parent's wedding), but Grotie lived here until she was evacuated in 1944.
I used to come here occasionally up to age 5 or 6, and if memory serves me right it was this house, Number 14. It is very near to the Haagse Bosjes, where I used to walk to and climbe on the top of the sandy hill.
