The present ladies clothes shop "Witteveen" used to be a jewelry shop, once owned by my parents (1936-45). I was born here on the top floor. Many of the better shops in this street sadly have dissapeared now. We used to have spionnetjes (small spy mirrors) mounted outside adjacent to the first floor windows so that we could see either side down the street. These used to be a common feature of many houses in Holland. They have clearly been taken away now.
