What the Rhine barges are on the rivers in Europe are the road trains in the Australian outback. They transport anything from fuel, livestock, grain, cars, coal, ore to general freight. Road trains consist of a truck pulling 3 or 4 large trailers. They can be up to 53.5 metres (60 yards) long. Note my Mercedes Vito van on the right for comparison in size, and the heavy "roo bar" mounted on the front of the truck.
