I have taken this photograph from a small and rather poor illustration in "The Consolations of Philosophy" by Alain de Botton. However it still gives a good impression of what a "Kastenofen" looked like. Note the elaborate decorations on the component plates, the horizontal poles above and around it for drying clothes and the absence of a chimney.
