There are several beaches right in front of Saints Maries, all with light greyish-brown sand (NO pebbles thanks goodness). Water is very clear and a comfortable 22°C when I was there late May (Air temperature was 30°C at that time).   Tahiti Plage is the only Bar-Restaurant with its own private beach area right on the water front, very pleasant. (Beach chair €10 per day.)
