Declarer must hold up the first ♠ trick in order to safeguard against North holding 5 spades. After winning the second trick (with the K♠), Declarer must test a 3-2 split of Opponents' clubs by playing his K♣ first and then ducking the next club trick. Declarer must do this first as it possibly brings North on lead, which is fine as long as Declarer still holds the A♠. North does indeed win the second ♣ trick and leads spades again, won by Declarer's A♠. With a 5-3 split in spades South by this time has no more spades left.
