Director's Guide - General

Setting up the Tables
Set up the tables in a circular fashion and number them so that Table numbers increase in clockwise direction. This means that in a Mitchell movement after each round :

  • the players move clockwise to the next higher numbered table

  • while the deals move anti- clockwise to the next lower numbered table.

The ScoreBridge Mitchell movements are set up this way, so make sure you follow this scheme.

At the PINT Club use an equal number of tables at either side of the central walkway.

In the TBC Boardroom set up the large tables alongside the glass doors, with Table 1 nearest to the light switches. The bench underneath the projection screen can be used as a Bye if required.
Set up the Coleman card tables in a row alongside the inside wall. This way 6 tables can be accommodated in the room.

Cards and Wallets
All cards with blue coloured backs are located in odd numbered wallets
All cards with red coloured backs are located in even numbered wallets.

Blue wallet deals are used for the PINT Club.   Orange wallet deals are used for the Trailer Boat Club.   Green wallet deals (marked "Fun Deal") are used as non-competing deals played when a table finishes its round early. One Fun Deal wallet is placed on each table before play.

Playing times
Playing time is strictly kept at 2 hours only !.
At present this means that we play 14-15 deals per session. When a table finishes early it may play a non-competing "Fun Deal" (green wallet) while waiting for the other tables to finish.

Allow 8 minutes for each deal to be bid and played. (The first round may be slightly longer. Time is usually made up the following rounds.)   Therefore :

  • with 2 tables each round 5 deals are played in 40 minutes

  • with 3, 5 or 7 tables each round 3 deals are played in 24 minutes

  • with 4, 6 or 8 tables each round 2 deals are played in 16 minutes

Pairing of players
Players need not bring a partner. Therefore the Director plays or sits out depending on the number of others turning up.   The Director does not pay table money when playing.
The Director receives $10.- when sitting out.
