When West opens the bidding, East, holding 20 points himself, immediately should realise that a Slam contract is very likely.
West's 2nd bid shows either an unbalanced hand with 12-15 points (and in this case 5+ 4+ in the minors) or a stronger hand (16+ pts) in any shape.
