Moree is a major centre for the cotton industry. Two thirds of Australia's cotton is produced in this area. Harvest time is in March.

The Trawalla Pecan Nut Farm with a 70,000 trees orchard and over 2 million kgs of pecan production per year produces 95% of Australia's total crop.

Olives are also grown in the district. The olive oil factory is located in Inverell.
