If you enjoy walking then the Black Forest in Southern Germany (just 50km North of Basel) is a beautiful region to do that.
And once in the Black Forest Sankt Peter (25km E of Freiburg) is an ideal and lovely place to use as a base.
In Sankt Peter you have quite a good choice of restaurants to eat, but my favourite is the very popular Waldcafe, run by Chef/owner Christa Blattmann, very ably assisted by head waitress Gaby in the restaurant.
Shown below are a few of my favourite dishes from the Waldcafe besides the regular South German Menu choices like pork, beef and sausages, not to forget the selection of delicious cakes they have.
