My father at an Atelier Martinshof Exposition

The collapsible display stands were designed by Guustaaf Jansen from Zutphen, the architect who also designed our home Martinshof. The displays within the stand were designed and made by the then young sculptor Piety Slegers from Velp (near Arnhem). Slegers had recently returned from an apprenticeship with Henry Moore in England and the latter's influence shows.
Lighting within the stand (here obliterated by the photographers flash) was mounted behind the upper front horizontal panel. This dropped soft shadows downwards, rather than the stark ones sideways as shown here.
