Caión, Galicia, NW Spain

This wonderful sardine fishing village in Galicia on the North coast of NW Spain, was the fieldbase for the research area of my late friend and fellow geological student Henk Rijks. I visted here frequently in the years 1959 to 1961 while doing my own fieldwork some 40 km farther inland.
For stories see my Stories from Galicia. On the beach in the foreground is were I saw the glorious Maria Luz Pet Morales for the very first time. The fishing harbour is on the other side of the village at the extreme right, just out of view.
