Amy Baird wrote this hand up for Bridge Magazine (January 1968) because she would never forget the experience of being outthought at the bridge table by the great Italian player (and World Champion) Giorgio Belladonna.

Brillant deception by Belladonna won the day (making 10 tricks), despite good defence by Baird who held up her ♦A twice, trying to block Dummy's run in .

Belladonna played his deceptional card (completely fooling Baird) at trick 1. What was it, and why did he play that ?
