The combine total is 4 + 7 = 11 losers, which translates into a possible 24 - 11 = 13 tricks ! Furthermore East's ♠ suit (Suit Quality = 6 + 4 = 10) is strong enough as a trump suit to "go it alone". The very minimum contract is therefore 6♠, and East has the responsibility to ensure that that (or a better contract) is reached !!! But there is no hurry, East should first find out a bit more about West's hand. What should he bid ?
