The great advantage of a transfer is that Responder gets two bids to describe his hand (while Opener is put on hold). Second responses are : 1. Pass with a 0-5 pts, 5+car suit, unbalanced hand.     (equivalent of the "Rescue bid") 2. Bid NT with 5 3 3 2 shape (occasionally 5 4 2 2 ) 3. Raise the transfered suit to show a 6+card suit 4. Bid a new suit to show an unbalanced hand,     or a semibalanced hand with two weak doubletons
