The Palmerston Library

Palmerston, located just 15 km south of Darwin on the Stuart Highway, is a small but very well laid out modern city, which reminds me very much of Canberra. Its Library, adjacent Entertainment Centre and surrounding office blocks (which represent the city's center) form a consistent brilliant architectural design, very much in the Piet Mondriaan style. This famous Dutch painter would have been delighted to see his beloved primary colours, blue, red, yellow, plus whites and greys displayed in rectangular vertical and horizontal blocks, so typical of Mondriaan's own work.
