Soft and sticky Koshihikari rice and Nouri (dried seaweed sheets, top right) are essential. The tuna, salmon and scallops (in the small round bowl) ar all fresh and of course raw. Side dishes today are green Wakame salad (seaweed with sesame oil), soya sauce with wasabi (horse raddish) and pickled ginger (not shown). Usually we drink sake with it, but not today. The scallops came fresh from the ship this morning and, cut in 3mm thich slices, are absolutely delicious. |
