Here follows a list of Hotels I stayed in while traveling through Germany during the past 6 years. I selected them either as being recommended by the Lonely Planet Guide or having a high rating on Booking.com

Baden Baden - Hotel am Markt
Great budget hotel in the very centre of this stylish and very elegant city and only 200 meters from the main spa baths.
Have a glass of wine and lunch at Wallstreet im Hamilton's terrace right on the tiny Oos river. Trying some delicious pastry (perhaps with a glass of bubbly) from Peter's am Leo on Leopoldplatz is also a must !

Bernkastel-Kues - Sankt Maximillian
On the Mosel river. The hotel has its own winery and wine cellar. Free wine tasting every Friday evening, great place to stay. It also has a great collection of antique Ofentafeln.

|
Boppard - Rhein Hotel Rebstock
Right on the river's edge of the "Romantic Rhine, opposite the ferry. Budget prices, great art deco dining room. The nearby treacherous rock of the Lorelei no longer exists these days (removed to facilitate shipping), so have a drink or meal in town instead right at the river's edge and watch the ships go by.

Boppard - Hotel Baudobriga

Romantische Strasse
|
Füssen - Gasthof zum Hechten
If you must see that King Ludwig II (quite ugly) castle, then stay at this lovely hotel in Füssen, the starting point of the "Romantische Strasse". The hotel's Medieval breakfast room is quite spectacular, and the Füssen indoor markets are a sheer delight for both eye and palate.

|
|
Nördlingen - Keiserhof Hotel Sonne
As it was good enough for 4 German Emperors, 3 Kings and even Goethe, then it certainly should be good enough for you. A historic place to overnight, in the most authentic and least touristic Medieval town along the Romantische Strasse. When there, don't forget to pay a visit to the eccentric Cafe Radlos.

|
|
Sankt Peter - Steingrubenhof
Not a hotel, but three self contained holiday apartments attached to a diary farm in the Black Forest. A great place to have as base for nature walks. Just 50 meters from the Waldcafe and 1 km from the St. Peters village centre.
